I have finished my book on traditions of Torah Reading. It was very interesting, however it was a bit hard to get through since it was answer and question based, and not everything asked had to do with my passage.
Another issue I had with this passage was that my dad had a huge law project he had to finish. So I had almost no time to learn Torah Reading. Luckily he is done, and this next quarter I should be able to learn with him everyday.

Passage # 3/4 Blog post # 4
It has taken me awhile to get through my book on the subject my passage is on. The reason is that the 1st part had no correlation to my passage, luckily I have finally gotten to the parts that I believe to be relevant. I should be able to breeze through the rest.

Passage # 3/4 Blog 3
I am having trouble finding time to work with my dad. I think what i am going to do is use a tape recorder during our lessons, so when my dad can’t work with me on certain nights i can review lessons.

Passage # 3/4 Torah Reading: Blog Post #2
Date: Tuesday, February 15, 2011
Today I am going to create and finish my calendar for my passage. One of my biggest issues last Passage was lack of direction. Having a calendar will give me a rough outline of what I need to complete week by week.

Passage 3/4 Torah Reading: Blog #1
I am doing this passage on Torah Reading,my proposal is as follow:
Proposal for Passage
Discipline and how the Passage addresses the discipline:
Practical skills:
The passage addresses the discipline because in Judaism you are called at times to read from the Torah. Living in that community it is expected of you that you know these skills. My passage will help me learn these skills, so I can make practical use of them.
Questions to be answered:
1. What are the Jewish laws, customs and practices regarding the public reading of the Torah?
2. How have they developed over time?
3. How do they differ amongst varies segments of the Jewish community?
4. Why is it important to learn about my religion?
5. Why I am I doing this passage?
Goals:
1. Learn about Torah reading, such as which sections are read during different times of the year. Weekdays, the Sabbath, and holidays. Customs, history Etc.
2. Increasing my knowledge of reading Hebrew, for example vowels.
3. Learning how to read the Torah, including the trup-Musical notations which govern the chanting of the Torah.
4. Forming a drive to learn about the Torah and about my religion.
5. How a Torah scroll is made by the scribe, his process. Similar to Teffilin.
6. Reading the Torah in front of the congregation of my Shul. This would be my final goal, and will most likely happen after my passage is done. It would be a continuation of the passage process.
Role of the expert:
My experts in this passage will be my father in teaching me how to read the Torah. It would also include the Rabbi of my Shul for the asking of questions of the laws that are not known to my father.
How I will use in class time:
I will use class time at first reading the book my father got for me on the Torah reading. After I finish the book it will be spent studying the Torah reading, most likely in a separate room.
Timeline for completion:
In planner.
I realize this is a lot of work; however I learned from my last passage that if you get started right away you can get it done. And I plan on getting it done.
